Old Fort Western

Tuesday I had to go to Old Fort Western in Augusta with my Social Studies Methods class... I brought the kids along for the ride.

In typical Sean fashion.... he took over the tour group and had everyone cracking up. The kid is nuts.

People keep asking me... "How's school going?"

It's always been a hard question for me to answer. I have never been one really "enmesh" myself into the whole 'school thing.' To me going to school is a means to an end. My classes to me are like weekly appointments or meetings that I have to sit through in order to get the credits I need in order to get my teaching certificate. I don't HATE class or anything, actually the 2 classes I am taking right now are interesting and kinda fun. Last week for my social studies methods class we went to the Holocaust Museum in Augusta and learned some ways to teach the holocaust to different age groups. In my math methods class we played with math manipulatives like Cuisenaire Rods and Counting Cubes to learn how to use them with children to teach pretty much any basic math concept.

So yes, I am enjoying school, I guess. But other than the during class, and the hour before class when I am doing my homework in my office because work ends at 2:30 and class isn't til 4pm... I don't really ever think about it.

How about a little walk in the woods?

I think this one is cool in black and white. These trees are like.... very intimate with each other

Senior Photo Shoot

Today I took senior year photos for Jen's son. We had been planning it for awhile, but it kept going onto the back-burner and now we were down to the wire... so even though this is a super busy week... I wanted to make sure and fit them in. I didn't want the poor kid to look back at his yearbook in 20 years and see and have his cursin' me out!

He was less than thrilled with the whole idea, as I would imagine most 17 year old boys are, but he was a great sport and was very easy to photograph! I was only there for around 10 minutes (any more and the poor kid would have bolted ...lol) and I am very happy with the results!

OK so her team is not AAAHHHHMAAAAZING this year....

....But my girl is BRINGIN' IT!! She actually didn't get to play the whole game today because she 'brought it' a little too much yesterday and hurt her ankle. Tonight the coach pulled her out of the game because she wasn't liking how much Jessi was limping.

It's a bummer that the team is so young and new... they have lost all 3 games they have played. Almost ALL the kids on the A team last year were 8th graders, so they are off at high school. The A team this year is LOTS of 6th graders that have never played FH and 4 eight graders including Jessi... so the odds are stacked against them.

I love going to the games though. Tonight was fun. Nicole and Sophie and Uncle Tim and Aunt Kristie came to watch and Nicole has a fun new camera lens to play with. Tim has LOTS of choices for facebook profile pics now ;-)

So ICE THAT ANKLE GIRLIE!! They are countin' on ya!!!

Lotsa Pics!!

Jessi had her first game Friday... Jessi was ALL UP IN THERE kickin' butt and takin' names... but they lost 3-0... it's a very new team with a LOT of 6th graders.

Today Nicole and I took the kids to UMO to take some pics in the flower garden. WHY have I never gone there before!!!?? The kids had a blast and Nicole and I did too. I LOVE getting out just to take fun photos for no reason!

Ding Dong the red is gone

It served me well... but all good things must come to an end, right? ;-) Actually... I ordered these shelves and they were taller than where the "family" word was, so I had to take the letters down. And.... I had hot glued them onto the wall so they took 1/2 the drywall with them when they departed. So I skim coated.... primed.... skim coated and primed again. After I primed the whole wall the room looked like it had DOUBLED in size with that big white wall and I just couldn't bring myself to darken it up again. I had the hardest time choosing a color. I wanted something light and bright.... but nothing seemed to work, so I decided to just go with yellow like the rest of the room.

Friday!!

So glad the weekend is HERE!! What a week! I knew fall would = busy.... but I didn't really realize it would also bring self doubt, inferiority complexes, drama everywhere I go whether it's work, home, or picking Jessi up at school, and the desperate need to get rid of ALL the crap in my house!!

So yeah.... around here fall=nutso.

P.S. It has brought lots of good stuff too.... without going tooooo TMI on all your asses.... turning to Rick to let him keep me from checking myself in to the looney bin... as Martha would say.... 'It's a GOOD thing!" ;-)
