"I had a great day at school.....

....and I only got into THIS MUCH trouble...

or maybe it was THIS much...

Nooo... I think it was just THIS much"

This conversation occured yesterday ....On DAY TWO of kindergarten!! Today when he got home we had the same conversation. I was hoping I was having Deja Vu... ;) ;)

Just cuz I could

Still not used to the weirdness of having the whole day to myself! I mean... It's been TWELVE YEARS since the last time I didn't have a little one at home with me!! It feels weird. I cleaned like CRAZY yesterday and it is STILL CLEAN!! That has NEVER HAPPENED... seriously. Usually by now you can't even tell that cleaning had ever occured.

Sent Sean off on the bus this morning with NO tears or anything. He did a great job! After that I went out and did some errands. One of the errands was running to the pawn shop to exchange the lens I bought a couple weeks ago for another one that works! Because I was clueless about lenses and stuff... a REALLY nice guy from a Pentax message board I belong to noticed that we were both in the Bangor area and he went over to the pawn shop for me and picked out a couple lenses that he thought would be good for me and had the pawn shop guy put them behind the counter for me. How nice was that!?? So I picked up the lens today and then... just cuz I could... went over to Indian Trail Park nearby and went on a photo hike to try out my 'new' lens (in flip-flops---which I do not recommend).

I think I am going to like this new phase our family is in!!

First day of school

It started out great! Jessi's fears were alleviated last night at the open house and all that was left was bubbley excitement! She was up at the crack of dawn ready to go! Fortunately for her... her bus now arrives at the crack of dawn... so she didn't have long to wait ;) Sean got up and dressed to see Jessi off and then spent the next hour asking if it was time to go yet every 5 minutes. He was very excited!! His excitement continued right up until we got into his classroom and he got his stuff all put away and sat down to work on a puzzle. Then reality hit and the tears quickly followed. Knowing a long, drawn out goodbye would only make it worse, we assured him he would be fine and that I would be standing in the driveway waiting for him when his bus brought him home... and we left. It was SO hard to leave him.

My plan was to walk home from his school... didn't happen. ONE sneaker had been hidden by gremlins. I searched high and low for that freakin' shoe only to find it after I had changed out of my 'walking clothes' and we were walking out the door. Instead I will take a walk this evening with the kids... that's way more fun anyway!!

Excitement... Anticipation... and fright

It has been quite a day. It was supposed to be a quiet day at home spent cleaning, washing all the new clothes, playing with new stuff, and enjoying the last day of summer. We did have some of that stuff... but we also had a good dose of drama, tears and tantrums thrown into the mix.

Sean has worn and modeled every article of clothing I got him over the weekend. He has also taken another 2 hour bath (he took one yesterday too) just to play with the Army Boat and soldiers that I got him at Big Lots (should be called 'Big Bunch of crap' ...what a disappointment THAT place was!)

Jessi did her fair share of modeling also... although it was difficult to change clothes with a Dooney permanently attached to her arm. ;)

Even Cooper delighted the day away playing with the toys I got him. Unfortunately he hasn't broken the "ROAARRRRRRRRRRRRRR" sound that the lion makes yet.
We have also had several meltdowns. When Jessi's sleepover guests left... Jessi had a full on "I'm tired, I don't want to clean my room... and oh yeah... I'm also completely terrified about going to middle school" fit and then fell asleep until 730pm. Sean had a huge meltdown earlier in the day when it really hit him that he wasn't going to be going to B and Grampa's house one day a week anymore. Even knowing that they are going to pick him up one day a week and keep him for the afternoon didn't seem to help. He spent the rest of the day ALL up in my grill. I have had more hugs and snuggles today from him than I have had in the last year!

I know in a month things will be 'normal,' but I have a feeling the next couple weeks are going to be something.

What DO you DO.........

What do you do if you are on a really long road trip and you're not the driver??

You take a bunch of pictures and play with your new camera!!

What do you do if you finally decided to go and see a 'famous' natural phenomenon only to discover it's on property owned by people who charge you to see it??

You trespass and peek over the fence and take pictures REALLY fast and then run away!!

What do you do if you walk down the road to a restaurant for dinner and (many) drinks and as you are leaving a 'hurricane' (complete with sideways sheets of rain and gale force winds) hits.... and then once the nice couple from Massachusetts drops you off at your hotel the power goes out??

Well first you stand outside and watch as lighting flashes everywhere all around you. Then you go into your HOT no A/C room (no power=no A/C) and laugh about your adventure. Then you laugh even more at the fact that the fire department goes around to all the motels in town and goes door-to-door passing out glo-sticks. Then ...in your still a little drunk and silly state... have WAY more fun playing with the glo-sticks than any adult should be allowed.

What do you do if you only go on one big shopping trip a year??
You shop 'til you drop!!!!!!!!!

What do you do when you realize that your FAVORITE ICE CREAM SHOP in the WORLD has a shop in the town you are in?

What do ya think!? ;) ;)

What do you do if you go to the Dooney and Bourke outlet and they have some really cute...really discounted bags and you know your daughter would LOVE and FREAK OUT over her own 'Dooney'??

Well at first you do nothing. Then your friend talks you into it and even says she'll split it with you just to see the look on your daughter's face when she realizes it's for her. Then you hem and haw for at least 15 more minutes until finally giving in to peer pressure ;) :) and end up with one ECSTATIC little girl!

A morning stroll

This morning I was up early with excitement for Nicole and my trip to NH! The morning sunlight was just GAHHHHGEOUS so I HAD to go out for a walk and take some photos!!

And as usual in this family... nobody does ANYTHING alone... even when the kids aren't home LOL!!

Rick mowed a path all the way into the woods. Have I mentioned that he freakin' rocks??

I was hoping to get a pic of one of the many huge garden spiders that live in our meadow. They are really neat in a freaky 'OMG RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!!' kind of way. But... she wasn't home... must have been off somewhere draining the life force out of a small child.

It is REALLY HUMID today!! You can even SEE it in the air!
Sophie and Cooper think they are SO cool. They ran ahead of me on the way back and when I got to the steps (about 10 seconds after they did!) they were here at the door like, 'Geesh lady.... where ya been?? We've been sitting here for HOURS waiting for you!'

And with that I am outta here!! Nicole should be here any minute!!

Have a great weekend!!!

Happy mail!!

No camera yet, but my canvas arrived yesterday from Canvasondemand.com and I LOVE IT!!!! I also got 2 blank canvases at ACmoore for the kids to paint on so that I could make a little grouping... not sure I'm crazy about the grouping yet. I may need to move them closer... or maybe I need to put the kids canvases somewhere else altogether. I already tried putting one on each side of the canvas as that was the original plan and it looked terrible. Thoughts?? (And YES mom... these photos remind me too that I REALLY need to get those valances up ;) ;) )

I have a feeling my camera isn't going to arrive until early next week. I checked my order status at Adorama and it still says "pending"...WTF!!?? Hopefully it has shipped and they just didn't update the site. I looked back on my blog and I ordered my other camera from them on 3/21 and it arrived 3/26.... whatever that means...lol!

Hopefully my next post will be chock fulla pics from my new camera (but I doubt it)!!!!!

Berry Picking..... sorta

Today we went berry picking. We THOUGHT the blackberries would be ready. We were wrong. I couldn't go COMPLETELY without a camera, so I used the kids camera (my old little, tiny, old, little, point and shoot).
Trying to make Cooper leave Stitch at home was no easy task. He wuvs his Stitch.

Debunking the "You have such a great husband" myth ;) ;)

This would have been a lot nicer if the colors weren't so freaky! ::sigh:: I can't WAIT to get my new camera!!

We came home with ZERO berries and my hopes of making the Pioneer Woman's Blackberry Cobbler are dashed for today. Which reminds me... I need to get one of those microplane zester thingies at that great kitchen store in North Conway....DON'T LET ME FORGET!!!
